Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert Book Review: Is Worth

May 25, 2021May 25, 2021. It's a book you might be embarrassed to read in public. Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Lovehas gained a lot of praise and a whole lot more criticism over the years. But love it or hate it, it has popularity like no other. It blew up when it came out in 2006 Review by Megan Brenn-White. March 2006. Like most quests, travel writer Elizabeth Gilbert's didn't come about because she was perfectly happy at home. She had recently passed the doddering age of thirty, gone through a nasty divorce and first post-divorce relationship (and breakup), and was exhibiting every symptom of depression Eat Pray Love is ultimately charming and inspirational. Though it doesn't have quite the impact of the book, it will likely leave you pondering your life choices and forgiving your flaws. It will certainly have you forgiving the few flaws in the film In less than two hours I was fine, totally healed. The same could be said about Eat, Pray, Love: We know how the story ends pretty much from the beginning

  4. By Marcia Montenegro| In her book, Eat, Pray, Love (NY: Penguin Books, 2006), Elizabeth Gilbert narrates her journey through three countries, Italy, India, and Indonesia, which parallels the exploration of three stages of her post-divorce experience: pursuit of pleasure, pursuit of devotion, and pursuit of balance (between pleasure and devotion). This is such a neat package, one would think it was planned ahead of time
  5. The book's actual title, Eat, Pray, Love, is sincere, almost reverential: the function of the joke is to fumigate that sincerity regularly to allay any suspicion that the author is taking herself..

Authors Joshunda Sanders and Diana Barnes-Brown wrote that Eat, Pray, Love is not the first book of its kind, but it is a perfect example of the genre of priv-lit: literature or media whose expressed goal is one of spiritual, existential, or philosophical enlightenment contingent upon women's hard work, commitment, and patience, but whose actual barriers to entry are primarily financial. The genre, they argued, positions women as inherently and deeply flawed and offers no real solutions. Eat Pray Love is overlong and quickly becomes tedious.
